From the reviews

Fantastic coaches for wrestling and bjj with 3 highly qualified black belts. My boys and my self training there since grand opening. Family environment. Unbeatable price. I have 3 of us registered in unlimited classes. Also month to month payment not locked into a year contract.

I moved my kids from another school to Forge about a year ago, and I am so happy I did it. The coaches are very good: they are proven technicians, and they get along well with the students. The place is clean and fairly large. I am not into martial arts, but my kids love coming there.

I joined Forge back in February of this past year and have really found a family and a support system. As a Jiu Jitsu practitioner that had taken a 12 year hiatus from the sport, I was welcomed into the gym with a belt not earned from these coaches and was given grace and time to settle in and find my place.

Forge Wrestling & BJJ is the place to be. As a tiny lady, it's most refreshing to see a martial arts gym with many women as active members. Some who are actually near my size. All the instructors are personable, knowledgeable and fill the atmosphere with lighthearted tough love.

Your first BJJ class at Forge Wrestling/Jiu Jitsu

Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

BJJ is a contact sport. Ease in, tap early and often, listen to your coaches, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
