What members say
“They are very welcoming to new students and I definitely recommend this dojo.”
“Our son loves his dojo and instructor, and has learned many valuable lessons in karate and in life!”
“We love the blue stripe forms focused on character building; they add a layer of personal growth that complements the black stripes earned for technical skill.”
From the reviews
I have been a student for several years, and they have always done their absolute best to work with my schedule and financial commitment. The instructors have genuine heart behind what they teach. They will always give an excellent workout along with self defence skills.
Good energy, good leadership. Like what they stand for and how they teach the kids. Lots of children per class thou and so it makes it harder to give attention to kids that are super new with little muscle mass built up.
Both my sons love it. They look forward to days they goto the dojo. I enjoy that the expectations and values taught and upheld in class are the same as in our home. The students are taught and practice/gain great self defense skills and it has also been a way to build my older sons confidence in himself.
Warhorse Karate •Jiu Jitsu provides an exceptional foundation for youth training and development. Their emphasis on character, discipline, and accountability has helped shape our children into thoughtful & respectful young boys, while their physical and technical training has provided the confidence for them to grow…
Your first BJJ class at Warhorse Karate • Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
