From the reviews
The cardio kickboxing is a great work out! It has been helping me to achieve my weight loss goals (along with a better diet). I feel stronger and have seen improvements in my physical abilities. The other people that attend are wonderful, friendly and just want to help you achieve your goals.
I've been involved in the Martial Arts for 35 years. Ed Carr is an outstanding coach and Instructor. A truly caring teacher !! Tokyo Joe's / Team Link Hooksett is the only place in NH I ever recommend ! The best of the best for both traditional and REAL competitive training !
Absolutely excellent! A serious fighting gym. One can get an intense workout and learn self-defense or train to compete at Tokyo Joe's. It is the place to go for MMA, jiu-jitsu or simply to get in shape. Ed and his instructors, are the best you'll ever find.
Coach Carr has been so great with all of the children, students and other coaches on the team. He has always set a great example of what being a leader is supposed to be. The facility is awesome! Full weight room, sauna, shower. I love it.
Your first BJJ class at Tokyo Joe's Studios of Self Defense/Team Link NH
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
