From the reviews
Great gym ran by great people! If your goal is to loose weight, gain confidence, and become a menace to others on the mat this is the place to go! I started my journey here a year ago and since I have gained all of the above. Eller has helped guide me to a more confident and healthy life!
Texoma Martial Arts is hands down the place to train! The environment is family-friendly, welcoming, and very laid back, which makes it the perfect spot for anyone beginning their training journey. Since I started here, I’ve come a long way and noticed huge growth in myself both on and off the mats.
This is a very family friendly gym and welcoming. I was able to come in and work at a pace I am comfortable with I don’t feel rushed. The coach is great he makes time with you one on one to make sure you are comfortable and find out what you would like to learn and answer any questions.
Enrolling my daughter with Texoma Martial Arts has been the best decision. I love watching her confidence grow and that she is learning real self-defense techniques that work! The coaches are amazing with the kids and foster a positive learning environment.
Your first BJJ class at Texoma Martial Arts Jiu Jitsu + Self Defense
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
