From the reviews
I was able to drop in for the 5:30AM Gi class at Paradise Jiu Jitsu while on vacation—it was an awesome experience! The facility is very clean, and as a bonus, it’s conveniently located right next to Maas Coffee (another great spot to check out!).
Trained here twice while on vacation. I have been in a lot of teaching environments over the years. This is the school I would attend if I lived here. Coaching and training partners are top notch. Christian was a great host and his students were very kind and well mannered.
I messaged Professor Christian while in Destin with my family and asked if I could come train with him. He was so gracious and welcoming. He has a beautiful school. Clean, plenty of changing rooms and a very clean bathroom. His Jitsu is Extremely clean and technical.
If you’ve been considering starting Jiu Jitsu, Paradise is the place for you! A new facility centrally located in Destin to locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re a master, mid level or beginner, Paradise has something for everyone of every age. Highly recommend Paradise Fitness and Jiu Jitsu!
Your first BJJ class at Paradise Fitness and Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
