From the reviews
Coach Mike is an awesome instructor for children. Our son is 7 and the attention to details is admirable. Other Coaches, Scott and Frank are also awesome.
My son and I both take Muay Thai lessons at Maxx Training center. The coaches are professional, polite, and very knowledgeable in their field. Coach Scott is fun and playful, and made sure my son understood the fundamentals, while keeping classes engaging.
Maxx Training Center has completely changed the way I exercise. The classes are great. The trainers and staff are super helpful. Plus the people I've met at the gym are amazing; I've made a ton of friends since I joined. You can't beat the atmosphere; it's the best gym in the city.
I have 4 children that take BJJ and I can see the impact that it has had on their lives. The coaching staff is amazing. They love on my children and make them feel so valued. I also take a Muay Thai class and sometimes have to bring my children with me.
Your first BJJ class at Maxx Training Center Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
