From the reviews
My son and I attend Gracie Jui Jitsu classes and have each enjoyed our experiences. I am pleased to find a welcoming home to facilitate my return the martial arts after several years away, and my son is excited to learn new skills and make new friends.
Wonderful, family ran facility. We enrolled our six-year-old daughter & from her very first day she has loved it. She is by far the smallest student there but that does not stop her. The professor and the students work very well with her and she has a desire to learn. The professor is terrific.
This place is AMAZING! We were welcomed like family as we tried out Jiu Jitsu for the first time. My son thoroughly enjoyed it and has not stopped smiling. The owners are the sweetest, and their story and mission is nothing less than beautiful! We signed up on the spot! I urge you to give it a try!
My 9yo son attends classes here and they are absolutely amazing in every way. They welcome you like family. I have seen a dramatic change in my sons ability to focus and not give up. They are very encouraging and disciplined in the best ways that both children and adults need. There are so many good things I can say.
Your first BJJ class at Gracie Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
