From the reviews
I have been a student of Atemi-Ryu Ju-Jitsu for over 25 years. Atemi-Ryu Ju-Jitsu is a traditional Japanese based system that was created by Doctor Philip Chenique. Doctor Chenique is a direct student of the late Doctor Moses Powell of Sanuces Ryu Ju-Jitsu.
What can I say about Atemi-Ryu other then "I love my school". This is more then a business to me this is my life and passion. I have worked hard over the years to make the school a welcoming place for everyone to come and workout. So I invite you to come and try out one of our classes and spend some time with us.
Atemi Ryu Jujitsu is home away from home for myself and my 8 year old son. Discipline, Integrity and real life training. No beating around the bush here. I can write about it till I'm blue in the face but the only way to really know is to experience it for yourself. Come on over! No Pain...No Gain!
I am thrilled to share my experience about Doc, Sensi Andy, my uncle Grasshopper and the rest of my amazing family at Atemi-Ryu Ju-Jitsu. As a passionate advocate for self-defense training, I can confidently say that this dojo stands out in its commitment to empowering individuals through the art of Japanese Ju-Jitsu.
Your first BJJ class at Atemi Ryu Ju-Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
