From the reviews
This is a great school led by really knowledgeable instructors. The environment is friendly and everyone is willing to help and take instruction. They bring in some of the big names in Jiu-Jitsu for seminars, Royce Gracie for example will usually come by at least once per year.
Been a part of Apex for a year. Great school. Troy and his family are great people who will do anything to help. Since coming to apex I am more confident in my self defense skills, and have made many new friends. Great place to learn how to defend yourself and have fun.
Apex is a great school led by outstanding people who provide a solid environment for learning and improvement. They also run a great kids program and women's classes. If you've been been thinking about learning BJJ or real world self defense skills, do yourself a favor and check them out.
Apex is by far the best BJJ in the state. My son and I both go, he’s 13 and since day one they accepted us into the family. You will learn from the best while staying safe.
Your first BJJ class at Apex Jiu-Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
