From the reviews

As a SA survivor working through PTSD. I give Wolf 5 ⭐️ Rating if I could give more I would! First time trying out combative sports while Working through PTSD. ALL coaches are professional and understanding with my triggers and anxiety attacks. Honestly, with their help I my recovery wouldn’t be as successful.

Enrolling our daughter into Wolf Jiu-jitsu was one of the best parenting decisions my husband and I have ever made. We moved into the neighborhood almost 3 years ago and when she started middle school she really didn't have any friends.

★★★★★ — Natalie, Jan 2025

I’ve been training at Wolf for a couple of years now and wouldn’t trade my experience for the world. Shane and Rachel are passionate, endearing, and always bring out the best in everyone at the gym.

★★★★★ — Jarred, Jan 2025

Wolf is not just a place to just train. It’s a place that we call home. We are there 2-3 times a week. It’s a family place. Rachel and Shane not only are great business owners but great people. They are role models for my 11 year old.

Your first BJJ class at Wolf Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

BJJ is a contact sport. Ease in, tap early and often, listen to your coaches, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
