From the reviews
These guys are awesome! I have a very anxious and emotional 5yo who struggles with new things and group activities. He had been asking for a long time to do a martial art and even though this is the first place we tried, I am so glad we found Rothwell!
Rothwell Mma is an amazing gym. I started training here 3 months ago and the progress I have made is mind blowing. Everyone at the gym is very friendly and genuinely want to help your progression. I feel like I am part of a family when I come here!
I'd been interested in the idea of kickboxing for a long time, more and actively for the last few months, but I was intimidated by going to a gym and being completely outclassed and too out-of-shape.
I’ve been going to Rothwell MMA for about a month after trying a free class on October 4, 2025. The Blast Fitness and Cardio Kickboxing classes are excellent. Coach Jen and Coach Frank keep every workout fresh and different, so it never gets boring.
Your first BJJ class at Rothwell Mixed Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
