From the reviews
My daughter went in so nervous for her first class and came out with a huge smile saying she loved it. I have high hopes it will help her confidence. The girl she trained with was more experienced and was so patient with her. I also enrolled my super shy son and he is also excited to keep going.
The gym is absolutely beautiful. I’m so happy it opened in this area, this neighborhood really needed a place like this, for both kids and adults to truly enjoy. After the opening, I saw the children playing with the professor Max and how happy they were on the tatami.
“My husband and my son absolutely love this jiu-jitsu school! The instructors are amazing — very professional, patient, and truly passionate about teaching. They create such a welcoming and supportive environment for both kids and adults. The school is clean, well-organized, and the quality of training is excellent.
I’ve really been enjoying training at this jiu-jitsu academy. The place is always clean, organized, and has a great atmosphere. My 7-year-old son also trains here and he loves it. The coaches are amazing, very patient, friendly, and always willing to help everyone improve, no matter the age or level.
Your first BJJ class at Renzo Gracie Creekside Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
