From the reviews
I can proudly say at almost 51 years old I am in the best physical & mental shape of my life. For individuals, such as myself who have professions that require strategic thinking and long hours of mental focus Oom Yung Doe is a must. My training has helped me tremendously personally and professionally.
Not your average Martial Arts school. Oom Yung Doe is so much more! 8 martial arts taught as one gives your body, heart and mind different ways of growing and developing. The instructors are kind, knowledgeable and truly, the focus is on you and your unique needs, not making you fit into a rigid system of training.
In between seasonal jobs, I decided to try Oom Yung Doe out for a month. The school came recommended to me by a childhood friend who had spent years training with the school and more recently ascended to the rank of instructor - I have personally seen the benefits of health, stability, and purpose which the training…
I joined initially to get my body conditioned for stunts, but wasn't prepared for the wave of holistic benefits that come with this training. The instructors are all incredibly passionate, inspiringly talented, and fantastic mentors. Talk about supreme positive energy and powerful mindfulness!
Your first BJJ class at Oom Yung Doe - 8 Martial Arts - Everett Boston
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
