“I also really liked that they had a takedown class before no gi class due lots of bjj gyms not teaching takedowns.”

From the reviews
I’m a new student at Nexgen. I’m having a lot of fun every day at the classes and learning Jiu Jitsu from seasoned professionals in the matter makes it more enjoyable.
NexGen is an awesome place to train! They welcome visitors, and have a very friendly and welcoming student base. Professor Gerrad is a true martial artist, who trains daily and studies constantly in order to provide top-level instruction.
Really cool gym with focused guys and great instruction. Gerrad and all the instructors take their time to work, explain, and challenge you to try new things. Good mix of ranks and experience levels. Went there twice when traveling through and will return when I come by this town again.
Nexgen is a great place to learn and train jiu jitsu. I was new to jiu jitsu and the coaches and training partners could not have been more welcoming. Professor Zec offers an inclusive training environment for both newbies like me as well as those with extensive training.
Your first BJJ class at NexGen Jiu-Jitsu Academy
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
