An excellent place to learn self defense techniques and potentially life saving movements. At my first class, I was able to learn how to escape from positions by rolling out of them. Adults and children are welcomed and the staff are friendly.
Gabriel is an amazing instructor. He’s extremely passionate about jiu jitsu. You can tell he really cares about his students and he does a great job at creating an inviting environment. If you’re in the area, beginner or experienced I’d highly recommend you to check him out!
I love the women's kickboxing class. I can work at my own pace as the coach divides the room into experience levels. The training feels very safe and I leave class feeling extra empowered. I love it so much I brought my niece.
Flew in from out of town and found this gym while I was in Cedartown. The Jiu Jitsu training class was great and it was fun to roll with them. I definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area.
Your first BJJ class at Laughing Lion Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
