From the reviews
We’ve been a part of Gridlock for about 7 months now and we absolutely love it. The coaches are very knowledgeable and patient. My 6 year old daughter has become more confident and fearless. She really enjoys coming to class. My 7 year old son has come out of his shell and is starting to really enjoy learning.
Let me start by saying that this place is gem no doubt . The coaching is awesome the team is awesome and the classes are awesome. My son and I joined about about 3 weeks ago and I’ve been impressed and humbled and I’ve learned already.
A GREAT PLACE TO TRAIN! I used to train here for a few years and first hand can say in Jiu-jitsu having street applicability is the core of the Gracie self defense system and this gym offers this approach. FOR THOSE WHO THINK ITS OVER PRICED YOU ARE MISTAKEN.
All 3 of my kids attend this Jiu Jitsu school and they love it. The head coach Mark is very friendly and welcoming. My kids really enjoy him and the assistance Maria. The other kids and parents are a very open and welcoming community, and we attend each other's parties and tournaments for support.
Your first BJJ class at Gridlock Academy -Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Self Defense Boxing
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
