From the reviews
I have trained in BJJ for more than 4 1/2 years and almost 3 1/2 of those years directly under Professor Francis May. I have also been training in boxing for 4 months. Professor May is an outstanding teacher and coach for people of all ages and skill levels.
Awesome gym with awesome people. If you are looking for top level training for competition or just want a fun, out of the box way to get in shape, this is the place!
I've been training at FXMMA for almost two years under Coach Francis May, and the progress I've made has been incredible. His expertise, dedication, and personalized approach to training have helped me improve significantly in both technique and confidence.
I have trained at few gyms before but never have I felt to say this feels like home to me in the first couple days of trying it out. When you get that gut feeling, you go for it. That’s what I did and signup feeling excited about it. Professor May is awesome and good sport that gives off good vibes around.
Your first BJJ class at FXMMA - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Wrestling - Boxing - Kickboxing
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
