From the reviews

We’ve been taking our boys for about 2 years now. The atmosphere is very family friendly. They do provide classes that cover a little bit of everything. I have 2 boys ages 4 and 7 and they do the jiujitsu classes. The professor is Carlos Miller and he has some other guys that help out .

I’ve been Blessed to Bring My Children into This Jiujitsu Family for 8months now and I am Truly grateful. This Professional Power Couple have really Coached my 2 Children to be Their absolute Best. My Children are 5 and 10 and They both have excelled in this short time.

I love love my gym. This gym has amazing people that you'll meet, with a family atmosphere, and motivating trainers & people! I love that you don't feel intimidated walking in and trying something new and different. FYI the membership perks are a HUGE plus!!! Adult & youth classes are offered which is super convenient!

I am giving them 5 stars because my experience going to the Jiu-Jitsu class is beyond my expectations. I am 36 years old and out of shape. Honestly, I thought I was too old to start doing Jiu-Jitsu.

Your first BJJ class at Flow Academy BJJ Indio

Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

BJJ is a contact sport. Ease in, tap early and often, listen to your coaches, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
