“Owners take a personal interest in all the students, know the kids by name, and you actually work with the owners them self!”
“It's still a good dojo (although expensive) to take your kid to learn self defense.”

From the reviews
I signed my kids up for the "trial" days. They both absolutely LOVED it after the first day! As they have continued, I have seen improvement each and every lesson. It has been amazing to see their improvement in a very small amount of time!
Me and my two older brothers used to go here for a good few years. I’ve always loved the teaching style, and amazing opportunities the dojo gives. I do hope to one day return to the dojo, and work to receive my long awaiting black belt; still hanging on the rack above the doors.
To be honest... I think they give away the beginning belts too easily. When I was a kid, I never graduated from white belt because I couldn't do summersaults well.
Three of my kids are students here. The classes are disciplined, well organized and well run. Along with physical fitness they learn to work hard and overcome increasingly harder challenges. They learn how to fail. One of my kids didn’t pass an exam and they had to wait longer to get their belt, no coddling.
Your first BJJ class at Extreme Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
