From the reviews
Last week, I was working in Tyler, Texas and I wanted to get some Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in while there. After work one day, I visited Ethos Jiu Jitsu and Martial Arts and I immediately found the people working there to be very friendly and helpful.
I’ve been training at ETHOS MMA for a little over 2 and a half years. The instructors are down to earth and full of knowledge. They make learning an enjoyable experience and always give the class something to laugh about. The environment is very healthy and full of diversity & discipline.
I continued my Jiu Jitsu journey and it has been nothing but a great experience. I started off in Longview but moved here and couldn’t be happier going to ethos . They have experienced instructors , great atmosphere, and friendly training partners.
Our daughter has taken Jiu Jitsu at Ethos for the past 7 years and she absolutely loves it! She is stronger and her confidence has grown tremendously. I also took the women’s kickboxing class for several years and tried my hand at jiu jitsu.
Your first BJJ class at Ethos Jiu Jitsu And Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
