From the reviews
The best Professor Filemon is always very dedicated and focused on the well-being of his students. He is very polite, friendly, fun and a good person! Since I was a child, he has always been an inspiration to me, on and off the mats. He is an example for everyone!!! Elevate is a family to belong to.
Professor Filemon has a lot of love, affection and care for all his students! He is always very dedicated and hard-working in everything he does. In addition to being very playful, fun and cheerful, he also knows how to be a firm professor.
I can’t say enough great things about Elevate and Professor Filemon. From the moment I met him, I felt welcomed and supported. The instruction is top-notch, with a perfect balance of technical and practical detail and encouragement.
Elevate Jiu-Jitsu isn't just a gym; it's a second home. Profesor File's dedication is what makes Elevate special. His patience is unwavering, his knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu is comprehensive, and his experience allows him to guide each student with care and precision. He's more than an instructor; he's a mentor.
Your first BJJ class at Elevate Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
