From the reviews
I own and operate a gym in Eau Claire Wisconsin and have 13+ years of experience with jiujitsu and MMA. Me and my fiance were in town and visited drenger jiujitsu. The coaching and training used the most moder sports science to inform practice design. The team was very welcoming.
Phenomenal gym. Only leaving because I am moving. If you're looking to get into BJJ or Muay Thai/MMA, the coaches are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. There hasn't been a class that I don't look forward to.
After a multi-year absence from BJJ, I came here as a very rusty blue belt in late spring 2023. I'm so glad I found Drengr instead of winding up somewhere else in the Twin Ports. This is definitely the spot to be for both quality coaching and teammates.
Great space and Great people! Very inviting and very knowledgeable. The coaches go around and make sure everyone understood the technique, its applications, and where it could be utilized. It was nice to see everyone helping one another get the technique down and testing it at a level they were comfortable.
Your first BJJ class at Drengr Jiu-Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
