From the reviews
First of all, I love this gym and the atmosphere. Alex, the lead instructor, is so passionate about jiu-jitsu and a really great friend if you're on the fence on whether or not to try this gym. Look no further, go and have a great time. Everybody I trained with is nice and really passionate about teaching you.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My son has been training here for almost a year and we couldn’t be happier! Coach Alex is amazing with the kids — patient, motivating, and really knows how to bring out their best. My son started in the little kids’ class and has now moved up to the big kids’ group.
I highly recommend training at this gym. It has an amazing culture. Knowledge coaches who will work with you on an individual level. I’d absolutely recommend jiu-jitsu to anyone interested or on the fence.
Solid Instruction, Outstanding mentorship to young men not only in the Art of BJJ but in life. Teaching young men to be men. How to lead and how to serve and protect. The right amount of velvet and steel.
Your first BJJ class at Divinus Lux Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
