From the reviews
I have been going to the gym for over a year now. I am 5' 7" tall and 47 years old. When I started, I weighed 255 lbs, very out of shape, and unhealthy. I was diagnosed with diabetes 10 years ago, had high blood pressure, and was involved in a car accident in 1988 resulting in 32 broken bones.
I was in Sioux City for 3 weeks for a work rotation. I found Devall MMA & BJJ and I felt at home right away. Whether you goal is to lose weight, gain cardiovascular conditioning, learn self defense, or compete in the cage or ring, there is a non quitting spirit culture here that will push you to attain your goals.
Devall MMA is a premium training facility that's fully supported by experienced staff and professional-grade equipment. The atmosphere and community the gym creates push individuals to excel at an appropriate pace, while simultaneously supporting quality education of the arts being taught.
Easily the best gym in town. Not so much a business as a close knit family that wants everyone to succeed. Regardless of if you want to fight, or just get healthier, the coaches all will push you towards your goals. A dedicated women's class for all ages and experience levels.
Your first BJJ class at DeVall MMA and BJJ Association
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
