“It only took 2 weeks of going myself to know that this would be an outstanding school for my kids to practice jujitsu and I was NOT disappointed.”
“You will get a great workout and learn a very effective martial art that Professor Lima teaches how to apply for both self-defense and sport.”
What members say
“Professor Lima is an excellent instructor who knows how to bring out the best in all his students and to create a positive, encouraging environment.”
“Whether you're brand new or have been rolling a long time Allan will make you feel like part of the family right away.”
“My daughter loves getting to go and I continue to see her grow emotionally and physically thanks to Professor Lima.”
“He balances play, fun, and encouragement with an expectation of discipline, hard work, and respectful behavior, and does so in a way that young children can understand and enjoy!”
From the reviews
Professor Lima has 30 years on the mats. He has a deep knowledge of Jiujitsu based on first principles and concepts. A strong emphasis on self defense . His Jiujitsu has helped me on and off the mats. Priceless knowledge learned.
**Edit to add Kids Class review.** I've been going here since the beginning of this year, and I can't say enough good things about this school! Professor Lima is an excellent instructor who knows how to bring out the best in all his students and to create a positive, encouraging environment.
To start, this is only my second experience that has warranted a public review. I was hesitant and selective when choosing a jujitsu school for my family and myself.
**Editing original post to add review for kid's class :)** So everything I said in the original review stands and then some! My 5 year old has been in Jiu Jitsu since April and loves it. The classes are available throughout the week and on Saturdays as well.
Your first BJJ class at Combate Real School of Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
