From the reviews
Couldn’t say a bad thing about this gym. The culture is perfect for people wanting to learn the art in a sustainable way. It’s not just for hobbiest, and it’s not just for world champs — it’s for everyone.
This is where I started my Jiu-Jitsu journey. Josh is an awesome instructor with a lot of knowledge on the subject. Everyone was very welcoming on my first day and that never changed. Great place filled with great people!
Visited here today from St Louis. The first thing I noticed was how nice and clean the gym is. The mats were nice, and the layout is done well. Josh is a very cool black belt, and seems to have a good culture going on at his gym.
My teenage daughter & I were welcomed with open arms last August. I'm am grateful for our Professor Josh who has set up a safe and welcoming environment! The men, woman, teens & young kids are all family and we are beyond blessed to be a part of this gym.
Your first BJJ class at Cast Iron Bjj
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
