“I have never done any sort of martial art training before and had no prior knowledge of what BJJ is and was looking to learn a few self defense skills.”

From the reviews
My son (11 years old)has been attending brave Jiu-Jitsu since September of 2022. Colin is an excellent instructor who is knowledgeable, patient, and always willing to help students improve their technique. He creates a supportive, and encouraging environment that makes learning jiu jitsu fun and engaging.
All good things to say about Brave!!! My son has been working with coach Collin and his team for 6 months. In this time he has learned respect for others, team work and patients. They are big on being truthful and supporting your teammates.
This is a fun and welcoming group of people. The founder and head coach Collin has built something more than a simple run-of-the-mill jui-jitsu gym. Brave BJJ is more like a club, where members are not only training partners, but also friends.
Collin and Brittany are amazing at running this establishment. The space is safe, clean and fun- we have two kids (age 11 and 8) enrolled here and the classes they offer are amazing. The other kids are great, everyone is friendly and I truly feel my kids are learning skills to last a lifetime.
Your first BJJ class at Brave Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
