From the reviews
Sweetwater BJJ is the place to be if you are in the area. I have been fortunate enough to have been coached by Joel who is not only a stud on the mats himself, but takes great pride in coaching and guiding all of his athletes towards success.
Joel is the absolute best, not only to train with as an adult, but he trains children with discipline and compassion! He's the coach you want on the sidelines when your children are competing. Five stars isn't enough for him, he's our favorite Black Belt!
I can’t say enough great things about Joel as a BJJ instructor. He’s incredibly patient and especially great with kids, always taking the time to make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported. His passion for teaching and for jujutsu is clear in everything he does.
I trained and Personally know Joel . He is one of the best coaches I have ever had the chance to train with . Professionalism and dedication to his students and Friends is unmatched . If you want to get your worth . Train with Joel . He’s the best in the business .
Your first BJJ class at Adan Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a BJJ gym for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good coaches expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic positions and escapes with a partner — not hard sparring. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many gyms lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi (or a rashguard and shorts for no-gi) and a mouthguard. Live rolling eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the coach. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
